As the only program of its kind in the Washington DC Metropolitan area, the Associate in Applied Science in Dental Laboratory Technology Program at Columbia College offers students comprehensive training in designing and constructing crowns, bridges, dentures, and orthodontic appliances, using the latest CAD/CAM technology, all while developing a strong understanding of fundamental dental science courses and hands-on training. This program not only prepares students for RDT certification but it also prepares students for a high demand dental technician field that offers higher than average pay, good benefits, and career advancement opportunities. The option to pursue an Associate of Applied Science offers a flexible career path with opportunities for advancement. Graduates may go on to manage their own laboratory or take on a leadership role as department heads in large-scale dental labs.

Upon completion of the certificate or program in Dental Laboratory Technology from Columbia College, students must take the Registered Dental Technician (RDT) examination offered by the National Board for Certification in Dental Laboratory Technology to become certified dental technicians.
